ok, first post since a month. I think I should keep up more with my blog. Nevertheless, I’m still pretty busy with getting back into normal life overhere, the seven months in the US may have been a lil’ too much of lay back :)

two weeks…

two weeks have past since I’m back home. And I still got problems to get used to this damn climate over here. It’s just freakin’ cold and wet. The weather is real crap, just rain, gray days and temperatures below 10°C (50°F). brrrr
Nevertheless, the last two weeks I’ve kept me pretty busy. Running from one appointment to another. Some things just never change. Also I had already a couple of additional courses at my university. Officially, the next semester starts next week. Probably then the chaos will be perfect!

Lots of work to be done. I’ve just converted this blog to a fluid width layout and the header images will eventually rotate! The biggest problem I am having is the layout of the photos within the posts. Also the ‘About‘ page has been extended with new information. Hopefully everything will be up and working by tomorrow, too tired for now…

center of the world – san francisco

Golden Gate BridgeSan Francisco is surely charming, and when you see it from across the tousled waters of the bay or from atop one of its impossible hills, it’s hard to imagine any other American city looking so damn attractive. From all the cities I have been too across America, San Francisco is the one I would favor before them all.

It has row upon row of gorgeous Victorian homes, acres of forested urban parks and long sandy strands offering picture-postcard views of the brick-red Golden Gate Bridge. No wonder I gave me whole four nights in this gorgeous city.

Big Sur – LA to San Francisco

If you ever have to drive from Los Angeles up to San Francisco then surely I can only suggest you to take Highway 1. It’s easy to explain why. The coastline here is an awe-inspiring symphony of nature, and at times Hwy 1 seems to clutch at the cliffs as if in desperation above a ravenous sea.
It took me almost a whole day to get to San Francisco. This is not only of the breathtaking vistas, but also because of the curvy Hwy 1 which winds along the Pacific coast with it’s steep ups and downs.

hollywoodWell, like some friends did forecast. Los Angeles wasn’t a real blast. It just wasn’t the way, they are selling LA in Hollywood movies. I don’t think you are imaging the Walk of Fame, as a place where adult shops and cheap boutiques are queuing along the stars. lol
Los Angeles is huge, real huge! It’s a titanic, sprawling, brawling place – a patchwork of 88 separate towns conspiring to look like a city.

back to civilization

puuuh… that was an trip! Arrived yesterday in Las Vegas (again)! It was just amazing. Haven’t seen such incredible Landscapes since a long time. And I gained a new appreciation for rock :)

I’m so glad I can sleep tonight in a normal bed :) Well, there is a slight difference to a tent. And if u are camping you don’t have always the luxury of a shower available.

I was in some really awesome National Parks. Especially the drive on Highway 12 was just far-out!

Yeahaaa! I did it! Landed yesterday in Vegas! Going to start my road trip from here!

Fun city?! Sin City?! Whatever! Vegas is awesome! I don’t need to know more ;)

it dawns

what? no way! …unbelievable how fast time can pass by… already six months? wow! It seems like, last month was February and I’ve just started my job… puuh! Got only some time left at Getrag. Next Friday is the last day. Makes it even more hard, after you’ve made some good friends! :( Had an really awesome time there and loved really to work there… well, that’s the lil’ difference to germany! The working-atmosphere is just wicked, if I compare it to all the companies I’ve worked for before!

Ok, enough with moping around! Good news are… It is not completly over, yet :) I’ve just booked my flight to Las Vegas… yeah Viva Las Vegas… don’t wanna reveal too much! But Vegas is going to be the gateway for my lil’ 5000km trip thru the western USA… yeah… three weeks backpacking thru the Wild West, that’s gonna be a blast!

And my tent came today, too! Figured I should set it up once before I hit the road. Took me 3 minutes on my first attempt.

By the way! Somebody needs a jag? She‘s for sale, and her name is Kitty :D
